Temp-Art Mechanical, Inc.

Temp-Art Mechanical Inc. was started in 1972 by
Walter and Lynda Kroll in the basement of their
house in West Hempstead New York. Their home was to
become a very busy home office as the company grew
and eventually outgrew it’s surroundings. Early on,
we became known for our ability to produce excellent
craftsmanship and deliver on time every time.
Shortly after outgrowing the house, we moved to a
small 2 car garage which was the site of the first
limited metal shop. This was our first experience
with stocking equipment and being able to make basic
metal fittings. This space soon became too small for
our operation and we were forced to look elsewhere.
The first true ‘SHOP’ was located on Woodfield road,
approximately ½ mile from the current location. This
shop allowed more room to store items as well as a
larger metal shop in the basement of the building
where we could make a wide array of fittings. As the
company grew it became apparent that a more
permanent location be found and when a local
plumbing supply went out of business, we had our
opportunity to actually purchase our own space.
So purchase we did. This shop is the same location
we are using today. When we first moved into the
space it seemed that we had a long way to go before
we would fill it. However, as we grew it seemed that
we could make use of every space it offered. The
metal shop became larger, and new tools had to be
purchased. The 8’ metal brake had to be lowered down
into the basement and moved across with the stairs
removed to make room. The hydraulic sheer was added
and we were on our way. Walter fabricated the sheet
metal table that we still use today. Which brings us
to the present.
Two years ago, we merged with Mystic Cooling; Owned
and operated by Robert Fein, a former employee of
Temp-Art Mechanical. Mr. Fein was to become the new
Vice President of the Temp-Art Group which will
eventually become the holding company for several
firms designed to offer horizontal integrity to
Temp-Art and provide new profit centers.
We also now occupy an additional facility where we
operate our new sheet metal fabricating business:
“On Time Ductwork”. Our growth plan has mapped out
an aggressive path to our future that will have us
moving at a fast pace to stay ahead of our growth
and facilities.
The future will require us to locate a new location
in which to consolidate our businesses and offer
facilities to further grow our business and employee
staff.
The small business association of America statistics
show that more than 66% of small businesses don’t
last 5 years, and even less last past 10 years. We
are extremely proud that we have lasted past the 37
year milestone. We could not have done it without
good people and good practices. We have faced
adversity and overcome obstacles and look forward to
the next 37 years. |
